GENTRY -- Three students from Gentry High School were preparing last week for their marketing presentation at the national leadership conference of the Future Business Leaders of America in Atlanta, Ga., this week. Clay Wills, Derek German and Kyle Kilgore will be making their presentation on Thursday and Friday this week in the national competition.

The trio will explain and demonstrate their marketing strategy for Pure Bakery, a fictitious bakery which sells bakery products and operates a restaurant. They designed a company logo, brochures, posters and newspaper advertising for the company to promote its products and services. They also were working on a short video and website for the company which included aerial video taken with the school's drone.

The Gentry team will have seven minutes to show their marketing plan and explain it to judges in the national competition.

"This is only the second time in the history of Gentry High School that Gentry has made it to nationals," said Joni Wilson, teacher and coach for the Gentry students. Wilson said the trio had taken first in district last January and second in state in April to qualify to compete on the national level.

Since it has been several months since Wills, German and Kilgore had given their presentation, they practiced it last week in front of Gentry business people and graphic designers and listened to suggestions to make it better.

Their initial presentation before FBLA judges will be on Thursday, with finals held on Friday.
