Easter Sunrise Service

An Easter sunrise service will be held at the Gravette First Assembly of God Church, on Highway 72, west of town, beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday. Coffee, juice, doughnuts and rolls will be served after the service. Everyone is welcome.

Sonshine Quartet

The Sonshine Quartet of Gravette will be in concert at Mason Valley Baptist Church on Easter Sunday, March 27, beginning at 1 p.m. The Sunday morning worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and the fixings, prior to the concert. The church is located halfway between Highfill and Vaughn on Arkansas Highway 12. Everyone is invited.

Springtown Cemetery Work Day Scheduled

Springtown Cemetery Association's annual work day is from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 26. Interested community members, scout troops and school and service organizations are invited to participate. Bring yard tools and gloves. General clean-up activities will be followed by the annual business meeting in the new pavilion. Snacks will be served. Rain date is the following Saturday. The cemetery is on Arkansas 12 on the east edge of Springtown. Help in maintaining the historic resting place is appreciated. For information, call G.T. Smith at 479-736-2841.

Kindergarten and ABCSS Pre-K Program Registration

Glenn Duffy Elementary School in Gravette will be holding kindergarten and pre-K (4-year-olds) registration. Applications will be available at school and online beginning Monday, April 11, through Friday, April 15. Times are Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., and on Tuesday and Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. For information about required items, please refer to the school website under the Parent tab or call 787-4120. Journey to Wholeness

An ongoing program to help people find freedom from unhealthy habits will be starting on Thursday, March 24, at the Total Life Community Center on Arkansas 59, south of Gentry. The program, "The Journey to Wholeness," welcomes people of all age groups who have a desire for healing and freedom from harmful practices and addictions. It provides resources and training to facilitate recovery and help in rising above and breaking free from compulsive behaviors. It also provides help and support for those who have a loved one struggling with such habits. The program follows a modified 12-step program from Alcoholics Anonymous with biblical comparisons and Christian principles. The meetings will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Thursday. Gallery Cafe Art Show

The Gallery Cafe, on Main Street in Decatur, will host an art show from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 26. Paintings by three featured artists, Mike Kelley, Steven Martinez and Julie Furlow Skinner, will be on display, as well as photographs by Westside Eagle Observer photographer, Mike Eckels. Refreshments will be served.

Gentry Easter Egg Hunt

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce will again sponsor an Easter egg hunt in the south side of the city park at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26. The event will include prizes for all and bicycles, provided by local businesses, for a winner in each age category.

Easter Eggstravaganza

The annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held Saturday, March 26, beginning at 10 a.m., at the Ozarks Community Hospital, 1101 Jackson Street, S.W., in Gravette, with fun for all ages. The event will be held rain or shine and will feature an egg hunt for children up to age 10, separated by age groups. The Easter bunny will be on hand to greet the youngsters. Gravette Easter Event

The Church on the Hill is hosting an Easter event, including an egg hunt, on Saturday, March 26, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Pee-Wee Football field on the corner of Birmingham and Seventh Street, S.E., in Gravette. The egg hunt is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The event will feature free food and games, and an egg hunt with more than 2,000 eggs. The church invites the community to join in celebrating Easter and the resurrection of Jesus.

Sulphur Fundraiser

An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner is planned for Sunday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sulphur Springs Cafeteria (behind city hall). Adults are $7 and children (10 and under) are $5. Proceeds to go towards the July 4th fireworks hosted by the Sulphur Springs Parks Commission.

Sulphur Egg Hunt

Sulphur Springs Fire Department will host an Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, in the city park.

Sulphur Yard Sale

A citywide yard sale will be held on April 15 through 17 in Sulphur Springs. Contact the city of Sulphur Springs for more information.

Kite Day

Kite Day is planned from 12 noon until 2 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at Siloam Springs Municipal Airport, 20610 Smith Field Drive. The event is free, and the first 200 children will receive kite making supplies to build a kite. Children may also bring their own kite to fly. Inflatable rides will also be available as an additional activity. No registration required.

Daddy's Little Princess Dance Scheduled

Daddy's Little Princess Dance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. April 8 in the Gentry High School cafeteria. The dance is for fathers and their daughters (ages 3 to 7). Attendance in Gentry Schools is not a requirement. Cost is $15 for father and daughter and $5 for each additional daughter. Tickets can be purchased from Kaye Cripps, 479-640-1409, or Regina Morris, 479-238-6569. No tickets will be sold at the door. Snacks and drinks will be available. Photographs will be available for purchase at the dance ($10 for one 5x7 and one 4x6 print). Little Mermaid, Snow White, Cinderella, Elsa and Pocahontas are a few of the princesses that will be visiting fathers and daughters.

Mother and Son Night Out

Mother and Son Night Out is set for 2 to 4 p.m. April 3 at the Community Bowl in Siloam Springs. Cost is $15 for mother and son and $5 for each additional son. Tickets can be purchased from Kaye Cripps, 479-640-1409, Beth Fox, 479-736-2251, or Regina Morris, 479-238-6569. No tickets will be sold at the door. Sons must be in kindergarten through sixth grade. The bowling alley will have pizza, drinks and other food for sale. Prizes will be awarded for most spares, most strikes, highest mom and son score, most enthusiastic, gutter ball award, most encouraging bowler, best team spirit and more. The first game will be regular bowl and the second game will be crazy bowl. Each team will get a list describing what one must do in order to bowl. Every child will receive a goody bag.

Father and Daughter Dance Planned

A Father and Daughter Dance is set for 6 to 8 p.m. April 9 at the Gentry High School cafeteria. Cost is $15 for father and daughter and $5 for each additional daughter. Daughters must be in kindergarten through sixth grade. Tickets can be purchased from Kaye Cripps, 479-640-1409, or Regina Morris, 479-238-6569. No tickets will be sold at the door. Payment order forms for tickets can be obtained from and returned, with payment, back to your child's school, and tickets will be sent home with the student the following day. Sixth-grade daughters and fathers will need to contact Kaye or Regina for tickets. Drinks and snacks will be available. Photographs will be taken and available for purchase. Cost is $10 for one 5x7 and one 4x6 print.

Gentry Story Time

Gentry Public Library holds Story Time with Grandma Betty each Friday. Grandma Betty will read aloud children's favorite books from 2 to 3 p.m. in the children's area of the library. For more information, call 479-736-2054.

GED Classes

Free GED classes will be held at the Gravette Public Library from 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays continuing through May 13. Classes are open enrollment, so students may enroll anytime and finish when they are ready. Come by the library, 119 Main Street, S.E., to enroll, or call 479-986-6911.

Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry is open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Decatur Food Pantry

Decatur United Methodist Church has a community food pantry open the first and third Thursday of each month. The only requirement for the pantry is that one live in the 72722 zip code area. An identification and a piece of mail showing one's residence in the Decatur area is required. There is also a USDA commodity program available which is income-based. Those wishing to do so can fill out an application to see if they qualify.

Tired Iron Meetings

Tired Iron of the Ozarks meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesdays of the month at the club's showgrounds, 13344 Taylor Orchard Road, Gentry. The Spring Crankup show is scheduled for April 15, 16 and 17. Show times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. As usual, the shows are free to the public.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette and at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Imagine Before and After School Care, 206 Birmingham St., S.E.. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
