Gravette board approves staff changes

GRAVETTE -- Members of the Gravette School Board, at their regular meeting May 16, voted to approve several changes in personnel at Gravette Schools.

Resignations were accepted for Kirk Chubb, bus driver; Taos Jones, golf coach; and Kayla Short, assistant softball coach.

Approval was given for the following staff changes: Kayla Shortt was moved from assistant junior-high girls' basketball coach to head junior-high girls' basketball coach. Will Pittman was moved from head junior-high girls' basketball coach to assistant junior-high girls' basketball coach. Amy Roberts was moved from assistant volleyball coach to head junior-high volleyball coach and assistant senior-high volleyball coach. Katie Collins was moved from head volleyball coach to senior-high volleyball coach and assistant junior-high volleyball coach.

Board members approved the recommendation to add one coach to the football and track coaching staff. Employment contracts were approved for Kevin Cole as the assistant softball coach and Kristen Hayford as the assistant junior-high cheerleading coach.

In a special meeting held on Thursday, May 5, board members approved hiring Matt Busch as physical education teacher, senior-high boys' basketball coach and assistant junior-high boys' basketball coach; hiring Mariana Blessing as high-school Spanish teacher and moving Brittany Gripe from middle-school math teacher to upper-elementary library and media specialist. Resignations were accepted for Terri Schories, middle-school English teacher, and Chi Lam, payroll clerk for the district.

In other action at the special meeting, wording was changed on the salary schedule from "payroll/benefits" to "benefits." Four days were removed from current contracts for all bus drivers and food service personnel and base pay was raised to compensate for the difference.
