GENTRY -- Music students at Gentry Intermediate School will be presenting a Veterans Day program called "A Salute to Our Veterans" at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in the Student Commons Area of the school, located at 302 W. Second Street in Gentry.

All 330 students will be singing "The Star Spangled Banner," "You're a Grand Old Flag," "Thankful for the U.S.A.," "Proud of Our Veterans," "America," "Land of the Free" and "You Are Our Heroes."

Guest veteran speakers will be Paul Lemke, Robby McGee and Les Caroll. The American Legion will also do a presentation about the American Flag.

The event is open to the public and all are invited to attend and honor those who have served our nation.

Gentry High School will also be hosting its annual Veterans Day Assembly from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in the high school auditorium. The students and staff are reaching out to the local community members and inviting them to join the school in recognizing the men and women who have served our country.

The Veterans Day Assembly will include patriotic music performed by the Gentry High School choir and band. A brief history of Veterans Day will be presented by GHS history teacher Michael Graham. Plans include a presentation of the colors, standing recognition of veterans and a presentation by the Arkansas National Guard.

There will be a wall of remembrance created by the GHS art club on display in the Gentry Library/Community Building through today for community members to sign in memory of a lost veteran. This wall of memory will also be in the auditorium during and after the assembly for students and all other attendees to sign.
