— Surgeon Patrick C. Schiefelbein, D.O., has joined the medical staff of Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

Dr. Schiefelbein is originally from Pittsburg, Kan., but most recently has been practicing at St. Vincent Hospital and General Surgery Clinic in Hot Springs. His relocation was prompted by several things, but it's his heart of service to patients that primarily led him to Northwest Arkansas.

"This area of the state is thriving and there is a great need for additional surgeons to best serve the healthcare needs of the ever growing population to help maintain a healthy community. I want to be part of a community that is extremely friendly and has tremendous potential for growth," said Dr. Schiefelbein.

Dr. Schiefelbein graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Mo. He completed residency training at Michigan State University General Surgical Residency Program at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital where he served as chief resident. During his general surgical residency, his examination scores for American College of Osteopathic Surgeons ranked consistently in the 99th percentile.

Dr. Schiefelbein has joined the practice of Dr. Jack Alston at Surgical Associates of Siloam Springs. As a member of the medical staff of Siloam Springs Regional Hospital, his services will be hospital-based and he will be seeing patients in the clinic located at 603-2 Progress Ave., Suite 200. His areas of expertise include a wide array of general surgical skills including laparoscopic procedures.

The new surgeon and his wife, Candice, have four children and are getting settled into their new home. In his spare time, Dr. Schiefelbein enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

"This is a great area to raise a family, with many opportunities. We plan to make this community our permanent home," Schiefelbein said.

"Siloam Springs Regional Hospital is delighted to welcome Dr. Schiefelbein to our medical staff," says Patrick Kerrwood, chief executive officer at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital. "SSRH is committed to meet the healthcare needs of our service area through growth of the medical staff. Our goal is to provide for patient care needs close to home."

Dr. Schiefelbein will maintain office hours in Siloam Springs on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and is accepting new patients by referral. For more information, call 479-215-3040.
