Gravette Lions defeated by Hamburg Lions

GRAVETTE -- Gravette's football season came to a close on Friday night when the Gravette Lions traveled across the state to enter the arena with the Hamburg Lions. Gravette was only able to score a single touchdown, point after and field goal in the second half of the game; but the other Lions, from Hamburg, jumped to an early lead, picking up pairs of touchdowns in the first two quarters and a touchdown each in the final two quarters, to take a 42-10 win over Gravette.

Stetson Selby completed 6 of 12 passes for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed 43 yards for another 2 scores to lead Hamburg (9-3) over Gravette (7-5).

Preston Meeks scored first for the Hamburg Lions on a 6-yard run in the first quarter, and Logan Smith followed with another touchdown on a 35-yard punt return. Selby passed 7 yards and 70 yards to Laquan Bryant for two more scores, sending Hamburg into halftime with a 28-0 advantage.

Selby ran for touchdowns of 17 and 3 yards in the second half. Defensively, Smith had 10 tackles and an interception for the Lions.

The Hamburg Lions held the Gravette Lions to 66 rushing yards in the game and 94 passing yards.

Bailey Soule scored Gravette's only touchdown on a 2-yard run with 3:38 left in the game. Chris Childress helped the Lions with a 32-yard field goal in the third quarter and a point after in the fourth.
