— Since opening its doors on July 30, 2015, the Decatur Farmers Coop/True Value Hardware store has become a vital part of the Decatur community. It serves farmers and cattlemen with everything from grain and feed to veterinary supplies. It has also serviced the hardware and painting needs of Decatur area residents.

Since coming to Decatur, the Farmers Coop/True Value Hardware store has sponsored many events, including the Decatur Barbecue and the Decatur Farmers' Market and is an important member of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce. It also supports the Decatur School District and its athletic programs.

When the Walmart Neighborhood Market closed in January, the Farmers Coop brought in a limited supply of grocery items to help Decatur residents who were unable to drive to Centerton or Siloam Springs.

The Farmers Coop, in a way of saying thank you, held a customer appreciation day in its parking lot on Main Street in Decatur Sept. 23 and 24.

Jim Ron from the Tired Iron of the Ozarks in Gentry displayed his 1940 Allis -Chalmers "B" tractor and two riding lawn mowers, one from 1965 and one from 1969, for visitors to view and photograph.

Also on display was an early single-stroke-piston-engine machine that churned out some of the best-tasting home-made ice cream in Decatur. In addition to the ice cream, Decatur area customers were treated to hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks.

"We have been in Decatur a little over a year now," said Chris Cole, Farmers Coop manager. "This event is our way of appreciating all of our customers for making this past year a successful one for our company."
