Lady Lions make quick work of Lady Pirates in Thursday doubleheader

GRAVETTE -- Cally Kildow pitched three innings in the opening 17-0 shutout against Greenland on Thursday, faced 10 batters and struck out nine, with one Greenland batter making it to first on a short infield grounder in the third inning.

The Lady Lions scored 13 runs in the bottom of the first and another four in the second to rack up enough runs to end the game after 2 1/2 innings of play. Gravette had 17 runs on 14 hits in the short game, including a triple by Keeley Bulza.

Sumer Kaba was three for three in the game and batted in five runs. Kildow was two for two and had four RBIs. Jaki Chalk also had two hits and two RBIs in the blowout game.

Bailey Elmore pitched in game two of the doubleheader. She struck out nine Greenland batters in five innings and allowed four hits and one unearned run. She walked zero.

The Lady Lions scored two in the first, another in the second, five in the third and three more in the bottom of the fifth with two outs remaining to finish up by 10 runs, 11-1, and end the game.

Lexi Gerner hit a triple and Sumer Kaba a double in the game. Kaba had two RBIs.

The Lady Pirate's only run came in the fifth inning.
