SSRH celebrates National Healthcare Volunteer Week

Every April is a special time across the country and especially at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital. It is a time to recognize, appreciate and thank the volunteers that make the hospital so special. This year, National Healthcare Volunteer Week is being celebrated April 23-29 in hospitals across the country.

"Our volunteers have a huge impact at SSRH," said SSRH volunteer coordinator Aimee Morrell. "They provide help in so many different areas of the hospital from the information desk to the gift shop, providing pastoral care, assisting with community events and helping patients and guests in departments all over the facility."

The volunteers at SSRH are community members -- mothers, fathers, grandparents and retired caregivers -- who give freely of their time and talents and are a vital part of the patient care team. Each year at SSRH, more than 55 volunteers contribute more than 9,000 hours of service, across multiple areas of patient and visitor care.
