February a busy month at Gentry Senior Center

It's the first part of February and the weather has been unseasonably warm, causing one to wonder when winter will arrive. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, meaning another six weeks of winter, but he's only correct half the time.

Whether warm or cold, February promises to be a busy month at the Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center. In addition to the regular events, the center will also host several new events, including a weekly Bible study at 1 p.m. on Thursdays led by Kent Kerr, one of the Center's Meals on Wheels' drivers. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

A van trip to the Siloam Springs Center to play bingo is planned for Feb. 13. A representative from Concordia Care in Bella Vista will host bingo games at the Gentry Center on Feb. 22. The games will be held monthly and offer lots of fun and prizes. Seniors are invited to come and enjoy the bingo games.

On Feb. 14, Valentines Day, the center will offer cookies and coffee to seniors and an opportunity to relax.

On Wednesday, Feb. 15, the van will leave the Center at 9:15 a.m. and take seniors to Bentonville to tour the amazing Amazeum and the Walton Museum and stop for lunch before returning to Gentry.

Feb. 16 is eat-out night and the van will take seniors to the Olive Garden Restaurant. The van will leave Gentry at 4:30 p.m.

On the 17th, the Center will celebrate birthdays for the month with a potluck at 5 p.m. Seniors are asked to bring a favorite dish and come out and try everyone's food.

Though the shorter month makes for back-to-back meals, Presidents Day means a long weekend, with the Center closed on Monday, Feb. 20.

Movie night is coming up but the date is yet to be determined. It will be announced soon.

On Monday, Feb. 27, the van will take seniors to the Siloam Springs Community Center to reminisce with the O.K. Country Band. Those who've never heard the band are in for a treat since the band plays the kind of music most seniors listened to in their younger years.

February promises to be a busy month at the Gentry Senior Center, and plans are being made for the March spaghetti dinner, a fundraiser for the Center. More news on that will be made available soon.
