Gentry takes two from Prairie Grove

GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers overcame a 13-12 deficit after the first quarter against the Lady Tigers at Prairie Grove and outscored their opponents each quarter thereafter to bring home a 38-25 win on Friday.

The Gentry girls outscored Prairie Grove, 2-1, in the second quarter and were up by two baskets at the half, 22-18. In a strong third quarter, Gentry held Prairie Grove to just two points and increased their lead to a safer margin of 11. And though Prairie Grove attempted to come back in the final quarter, Gentry held its opponent to five points and put up another seven points for the win.

BOYS

On the boys' side, the Pioneers took an early lead over their host team, the Prairie Grove Tigers, and were up, 20-15, by the half. The Tigers closed that gap to within four in the third quarter; but the Pioneers picked up 22 to the Tigers' 19 to finish the game up by seven, 56-49, on Friday. No individual scoring stats were made available to the Eagle Observer by press time.
