Gentry softball hosts camp

Submitted Photo More than 90 girls from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas came to Gentry to participate in a two-day fundraiser camp June 22-23 for a member of the softball community who recently suffered a medical setback. More than $2,500 was raised, and all proceeds went directly to helping the family. Businesses involved were Pioneer Pizza providing lunch; Harps donating bottled water; McKee Foods donating snacks; Gentry Conversion Charter Schools providing maintenance, transportation, lunch, facilities and equipment; Sno Paradise provided a cold treat; and Joni Wilson provided T-shirts. Camp instructors included Ayla Smartt, Lance Nations, Beau Collins, Justin Ledbetter, Shawn Haag, Clay Stewart, Paul Ernest, Kyle Jordan, Joe Still, Brooke Boston, Makensie Sweeten, Lali Estrada, April Harris and Taylor Hull. Player assistants were Alyssa Kelton, Billi Taylor, Lynzey Sikes, Allee Sweeten and Raegan Jude. Administrative assistants were Jennifer Ernest, Tonya Sweeten, Shelly Sikes, Leonna Taylor, Stacy Nations, Gentry athletic director Brae Harper and dean of students Brian Little.
