MAYSVILLE -- The Maysville Extension Homemakers Club met February 23 at the community building for the business meeting and a delicious Mexican lunch, hosted by Laura Kinney.

President Orpha Wardlaw called the meeting to order and Jane Wilber welcomed everyone. Melinda Crawley led the group in singing "Mama's Soup Surprise." The Pledge of Allegiance was given, followed by inspiration by Melinda on "The Magic of Love."

Ginger Yocum gave a lesson on embracing aging. Attitude is everything. Your attitude affects how successful you are, how you feel and look mentally and what you say and do. Being positive was emphasized.

The helpful hint was on how to quickly remove the cord from your vacuum cleaner -- turn the lever down on which the cord is wound and the cord will quickly fall, eliminating the need to unwind it.

We all participated in making paper beads, led by Robin Reichardt.

Minutes and treasurer's report were given by secretary, Gwen Singleton.

Robin gave a report on the Cultural Art Workshop.

Spring Fundraiser dinner will be on April 29, and the annual community yard sale on May 12 and 13.

Newsletter events were reviewed by President Wardlaw.

The next leader lessons on Stay-cations and Children's Education Choices will be April 7th at the County Extension office.

County Tea Party will be February 28.

Spring Council project will be collecting rubber cement, spray paint and duct tape for Oasis of NWA. Volunteers are needed for judging 4-H ORama and baking activities. If interested, contact the county office.
