Homecoming ceremonies set for Friday in Gentry

Powderpuff games to be played Thursday

GENTRY -- It's homecoming week in Gentry, with the homecoming game against Berryville set for 7 p.m. on Friday at Pioneer Stadium. Homecoming ceremonies in the Stadium begin with the introduction and honoring of past homecoming queens at 6:20 p.m. and the introduction of the homecoming court and the crowing of the 2017 king and queen set for 6:30 p.m.

In the running for the title of homecoming queen 2017 are seniors Abby Asencio, Jennifer Carrera, Alexis Droddy, Lauren Fowler, Karadie Ory and Haylee Pyburn. Each class will also be represented by maids and their escorts.

In addition to the game and ceremonies on Friday night, a homecoming parade is set for 1 p.m. on Friday. The parade will begin at the high school, travel north on Pioneer Lane, east on Third Street, north on Smith Avenue and east on Main Street to Railroad Avenue. It will feature the high school band and a variety of floats with this year's homecoming theme, "Once a Pioneer, Always a Pioneer."

In addition to dress-up days and other in-school activities, a powderpuff football playoff will be held at Pioneer Stadium at 1 p.m. Thursday, with competition between the girls of the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes.
