Arrests

GENTRY -- Police in Gentry were seeking an arrest warrant for Jerry W. Fitts, 49, of Gentry, in connection with two felony counts of possessing a controlled substance.

According to police reports, Fitts was stopped on Taylor Orchard Road on the evening of March 30 for failing to dim aftermarket off-road lights on a pickup truck he was driving. Police reports state that the officer noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and, in a search of Fitts authorized by a parole search waiver, two pills police believed to be morphine were allegedly found on Fitts. Fitts did not have a prescription for the pills, according to police reports.

Due to a medical emergency, Fitts was not arrested but transported to the hospital for treatment. Instead, a warrant was requested by police.
