DECATUR -- It was not the end to the season that coaches John Unger and Jeff Melton hoped for when the Decatur Bulldogs traveled to Alpena Feb. 12 to participate in the first round of the 1A Northwest District tournament. The Bulldogs' opponent for the night was the Lead Hill Tigers, a team they faced once and defeated for their only conference victory of the season. But it would not go well for Decatur in the end.

Throughout the first half and into the second, the Bulldogs held as much as a 10-point lead. But a series of fouls, 38 in all, would prove too much for the Bulldogs to overcome and Lead Hill eventually overtook the lead.

When the final buzzer sounded, Lead Hill took the contest, 41-31.

The Decatur Bulldogs finished the season 6-18 overall and 1-7 in conference play for a fifth-place finish.
