GRAVETTE -- Arthur Evans, "Art" to most of his patients and friends, has retired after 47 years of practicing dentistry in Gravette. A retirement reception was held in his honor Saturday, July 7, at the Bank of Gravett community room. The dental office in the OCH health clinic building will not be closing, however, as Evans has sold the practice to a pair of Gentry dentists.

Alan Lamb and Scott Stubbs, who operate Gentry Family Dentistry, have purchased Evans' practice. They are doing some remodeling now and expect to be open to see patients at the Gravette office in a couple of weeks. They will continue to operate their office on Main Street in Gentry, as well.

The telephone number at the Gravette office will remain the same, 479-787-5256, and those wishing to make appointments may call that number. The number at the Gentry office is 479-736-2800.

Already, Evans says, retirement "is feeling pretty good." A world traveler and avid photographer, he grows orchids and lilies in his yard and home greenhouse, studies rare birds and reads extensively on a wide variety of subjects. He would like to train to be a master gardener and a master naturalist. He doesn't expect to get bored and says he would like to go back to college and do volunteer work.

In a recent retirement announcement ad, Evans and his wife Crow thanked all those in Gravette and surrounding communities who had given friendship and support. And, ever eager to see that his patients continue to have good dental health, he reminds them, "Don't forget to brush and floss, and avoid sugar."
