DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldog varsity boys' basketball team once again played host to the Gentry Pioneers and the Colcord (Okla.) Hornets June 19 for week three of the Decatur scrimmages at Peterson Gym in Decatur.

During week one, the Bulldogs were able to defeat the Hornets in both of their meetings. It was a different story in week two after the Hornets made a few modifications to their game plan and turned the tables on the Bulldogs, winning both of their contests. It was no different in week three as the Colcord Hornets handed the Decatur Bulldogs yet two more defeats, 26-20 in game one and 15-14 in game five.

Gentry continued to dominate the series by keeping its winning streak alive and defeating the Hornets 40-14 in game two and 37-28 in game four. The Pioneers were able to pull ahead of the Bulldogs in game three by as much as 20 points before eventually claiming victory, 38-22.

But the sixth and final game of the series between Gentry and Decatur had a very different outcome. The Bulldog team reached deep into its heart and was able to pull off a win over the Gentry Pioneers, 19-18.

The Decatur Bulldogs will take a two-week break mandated by the Arkansas Activity Association. They will return to practice after the Independence Day holiday.
