Glenn Duffy Elementary enrollment begins April 9

Kindergarten and pre-K registration for 2018-2019 begins April 9. For required information, look on the homepage on the school website: gravetteschools.net/gde. Enrollment packets will be available at school and online beginning on April 9. Children must live in the Gravette School District. Pre-K children must be 4 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2018. Kindergarten children must be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2018.

Easter cookie sale

Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is now taking orders for Easter cookies. Orders will be accepted through Thursday, March 29. Order now for Easter. Cookies are $10 per dozen. Flavors available include oatmeal raisin, oatmeal cranberry walnut, peanut butter, sugar cookie, chocolate chunk, snickerdoodle, macadamia nut and white chocolate cherry. An assorted pack includes oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, sugar cookie and chocolate chunk. Cookies may be picked up between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the Center, located at 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. Call 479-787-5950.

Benefit quilt raffle

Tickets are being sold for a quilt raffle at Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Tickets are $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5. Three quilts made and donated by Betty Howard will be raffled. The drawing will be held Friday, March 30. Tickets may be purchased at the center, located at 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. Call 479-787-5950. All proceeds go to the Meals on Wheels Program that serves homebound seniors in the Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville areas.

DAG Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza

Decatur Assembly of God, located at 674 N. Main St. in Decatur, will host its annual "Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza" on March 31 at 1 p.m. The event is for children, 0-12, and will have five divisions and hunting areas (including an area designated for children with special needs). There will be more than 5,000 eggs to hunt, including prize eggs and grand-prize eggs in each division. The community is welcome.

Gentry Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Gentry Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, on the south side of Gentry City Park. The event is for children, 0-10 years of age. There will be gift bags for all children and grand prizes for winners in four age groups.

Easter Sunrise service hosted by Heritage Baptist Church

Heritage Baptist Church will be hosting the Annual Gravette Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday, April 1. Everything begins at 7 a.m. and should conclude no later than 8:30 a.m. There will be music from all churches involved, testimonies and a message from God's Word. The service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, 307 Fourth Avenue S.E.

Tired Iron Spring Crankup Set for April 20-23

The 26th annual spring show of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, April 20-23, at the club's showgrounds, 13344 Taylor Orchard Road, Gentry. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The show will feature antique tractors and engines, farm implements and demonstrations, a working blacksmith shop, working sawmills, antique home furnishings, a parade of power at noon, a log cabin, outhouse, rope making and a concession stand. The event and parking are free. The featured tractor at the show this spring is the Ford N Series. The featured engine is the Witte Engine. A silent auction will take place on Friday and Saturday, and a flea market will be open all weekend.

Amateur radio club to meet April 5

The Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, at Highland Christian Church. The program will focus on the potential effects of electromagnetic pulse (EMP.) For anyone interested in acquiring an amateur radio license, the club also administers FCC exams on the second Saturday of each month at 2 p.m. All meetings and exams are held at Highland Christian Church, located at 1500 Forest Hills Blvd (Hwy 279), in Bella Vista. Openings exist on Gravette library board

Three openings exist on the Gravette Public Library advisory board. Positions are for five-year terms. Applicants must live in the Gravette school district. The board meets monthly at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. Anyone interested in being considered for a position on the board should call library supervisor Karen Benson at 479-787-6955, visit the library at 119 Main Street S.E. or Gravette City Hall at 604 First Avenue S.E.

Free GED prep classes

Free classes to prepare people for taking the GED exam are being offered through May 11 at the Gravette Public Library. Classes will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evenings only, at the library, 119 Main Street S.E. Interested persons may enroll by calling 479-986-6911 or by attending the class. Classes are open enrollment. Students may start anytime and finish when they are ready.

Decatur UMC Pantry open first, third Thursdays

The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also available is a USDA commodity program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. The commodity program requires income information. GFA Food Pantry open Tuesdays at Gentry AG church

The GFA Food Pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church partnered with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs, and meats as part of the only certified food bank in Gentry. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies, are also available as supplies last. Clients are asked to call for an appointment. Lions Club meetings set in Gravette, Gentry

The Gravette Lions Club meets at noon, the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Tired Iron club meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria inside Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion, Post 25, meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing services planned at Falling Springs church

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Post meets

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
