DECATUR -- The weather was cool and wet with periods of heavy rain April 25 when the Decatur Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs participated in the 2018 1A Northwest Senior High District Track meet in Harrison.
For the second year in a row, both the Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs dominated the meet. Both the boys' and girls' teams scored 215 points to bring home the district title. Oddly enough, both Omaha boys' and girls' team won second place with the exact same number of points, 176, putting Decatur ahead by 39 points each.
Leading the Lady Bulldogs for the second straight year was Desi Meek, the number one female athlete in the class 1A division.
Several members of the boys' team also captured gold for Decatur. Taylor Haisman, last year's 800-meter state champion, won gold in the pole vault in the district meet this year.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Mineral Springs May 2 to defend their 1A state title. The Bulldogs, runners-up last year, will try to bring home the state title this year.
