Bulldogs end season with loss in regional baseball tournament

DECATUR -- After losing to the Alpena Leopards in the first round of the 1A-1 district tournament in Decatur April 26, the Decatur Bulldogs baseball team hit the road May 4 to participate in the Region 1A-1 tournament in Harrison.

The game ended with a loss to the Lead Hill Tigers and elimination from the tournament.

The Bulldogs went into the tournament the third seed team from the northwest district, taking on number two seed Lead Hill from the east distinct.

By the end of the third inning, it was all over for the Bulldogs. The Tigers scored 10 runs in the second and eight in the third to take an 18-0 lead.

Decatur was unable to score, and the game ended in the fifth inning on 10-run rule, giving the Tigers an 18-0 win.

The Bulldogs finished their 2018 season 4-6-1 overall and 2-4 conference records.

The Lady Bulldogs also lost to the Lead Hill Lady Tigers 14-0 in the first round of the 1A-1 Region tournament at Harrison May 4.

Decatur, under first-year coach Jayme Burden, finished 2018 at 0-8 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
