Free diabetes testing

A free diabetes testing will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, National Diabetes Awareness Day, at the Gravette public library, 119 Main Street S.E. Sponsored by members of the Gravette Lions Club, the event will offer blood sugar testing as well as blood pressure checks and will offer pulse oximeter readings.

Town hall meeting to

discuss EMS agreement

Benton County will conduct a town hall meeting in Gravette to share information and answer questions on the new agreement for emergency medical services in western Benton County. The meeting will be held at the Gravette Civic Center, 401 Charlotte Street S.E., on Thursday, Nov. 15. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 6 p.m.

Gentry Library Gala set

A gala to support the work of Gentry Public Library is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Gentry Middle School cafeteria. The gala theme is "A Novel Occasion" and tickets are available for $50 each at the Gentry Public Library, Gentry City Hall and the Gentry Chamber of Commerce. Tickets may also be ordered, and donations sent by mail to Gentry Public Library Association, 105 East Main Street, Gentry, AR 72734 or by calling 479-479-841-6172.

Outdoor movie and bonfire planned

An outdoor movie and bonfire are planned at Gentry First Assembly of God on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. Free hot dinners will be served, beginning at 5 p.m. Hot chocolate will also be available. The movie will be "I Can Only Imagine" and will be shown on a large, outdoor movie screen. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. The event is open to the community. In case of bad weather, the event will be moved indoors.

Free Gravette Community Thanksgiving dinner set

The Gravette Community free Thanksgiving dinner will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the cafeteria at Gravette High School. The event is sponsored by area churches and businesses.

Hat and glove giveaway planned in Decatur

Fellowship Full Gospel Church in Decatur will have a hat and glove giveaway from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Decatur Train Depot as a way to help keep the community warm this winter. Hats and gloves will be available for men and women, as well as children and teenagers. The only requirement to receive a hat or pair of gloves is to show up at the designated time and place.

Community Thanksgiving service planned

The Gentry Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Springtown Christian Fellowship Church. Eddie Knight, First Baptist Church pastor, will be the featured speaker.

Blood drive set

A blood drive will be held at Gravette High School from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20. The American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in the HOSA Lab, Room 153, at Gravette High School.

Fresh yeast rolls offered

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center is taking orders for fresh yeast rolls at $5 per dozen. Call 479-787-5950 and order now for Thanksgiving dinner. Orders will be taken through Monday, Nov. 19. Orders may be picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 21, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. All proceeds go to the Meals on Wheels program that serves homebound seniors in the Gravette, Decatur, Hiwasse, Sulphur Springs and Maysville areas.

Project Prom bake sale

The annual Christmas baked goods sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in the lobby of the Bank of Gravett, on Gravette Main Street. Proceeds will go to benefit Project Prom, a fun, safe and free after-prom event for Gravette students.

Gravette Christmas parade

The city of Gravette will hold its Christmas parade at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, on Main Street. The theme of this year's parade is "Sounds of the Season," and awards will be given for the entry with the best use of lights, the most festive entry and for the best use of the theme. Following the parade, a celebration will be held at the Gravette Historical Museum, 503 Charlotte Street S.E., with free hot dogs, cookies and hot cocoa. Teams from the Gravette Police Department and Gravette Fire Department will compete in a chili cookoff. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to greet the children and Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Kindley are scheduled to make an appearance.

Gentry Christmas Parade set

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Christmas parade, with a theme of "Christmas Around the World," is set to be held on Gentry's Main Street at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8. For more information on the parade or how to enter, contact the Gentry Chamber office at 479-736-2358.

McGlasson to sing at First Baptist in Gentry

Melinda McGlasson, an international Christian recording artist, will speak and perform at a special Christmas concert to be held at First Baptist Church in Gentry at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. All are welcome and invited.

Live Nativity planned at Ozark Adventist Academy

A walk-through live nativity will again be held at Ozark Adventist Academy from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, and from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15. The nativity scene offers visitors a journey back in time to the streets of Bethlehem and to Calvary. A fully-costumed cast of more than 100 people, as well as animals and live music, is planned to bring the story of Christ's birth, life, crucifixion and resurrection to life. Golf carts will be available for those unable to walk through the settings. Refreshments will be served. Non-perishable food items will be collected to be given to those in need through the food pantry at Total Life Community Center, located just south side of Gentry on Arkansas Highway 59.

TOPS meet in Gentry

Gentry TOPS AR113, a non-profit group which promotes healthy weight loss, meets every Monday at the First Christian Church Fellowship Room, Second and Giles, with a weigh in at 2:15 p.m. and the meeting at 3 p.m. There is a small fee to join but the first meeting is free.

First Baptist holds food pantry in Decatur

First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Avenue in Decatur, holds a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the church at 479-752-3514.

Decatur UMC pantry open first, third Thursdays

The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also available is a USDA commodity program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. The commodity program requires income information. GFA food pantry open Tuesdays

The GFA food pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church partners with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs and meats. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies are also available as supplies last. Clients are asked to call for an appointment. Lions meetings set in Gravette, Gentry

The Gravette Lions Club meets at 12:15 p.m., the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Guests are welcome.

Tired Iron club meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria inside Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion, Post 25, meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are welcome. Persons interested in joining the American Legion, and especially Post 25, may contact the Gravette post at P.O. Box 476, Gravette, AR 72736.

Singing services set at Falling Springs church

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.
