WESTSIDE -- Light snow fell across the region on Monday morning as a light band of precipitation passed through the area and temperatures fell. What started out as light rain changed over to light snow and one to two inches of the wet snow on top of leaves and grass.
Since the ground and streets remained warmer and temperatures hovered just above the freezing mark on Monday, the snowy blanket didn't last long.
The snow was the first for the season, with the first hard frost coming over the weekend on Saturday morning.
Cold temperatures were forecast by the National Weather Service yet on Tuesday -- with highs near the freezing mark. Slightly warmer temperatures were forecast for today, with mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures (highs in the 40s) forecast the remainder of the week.
