Pioneers overcome by Lions in pre-Christmas contest

GENTRY -- The Pioneers could not stop the fast-paced Lions' game in Gentry on Dec. 22 and fell to their Gravette rivals, 75-51.

Though the Pioneers had strong first and third quarters, scoring 13 and 17, respectively, even their best offensive quarters didn't match the shooting of the Lion offense, with the Lions scoring 19 in the opening quarter, 14 in the second, 23 in the third and another 19 in the final quarter.

Gunnar Woolard hit the basket inside and out of the 3-point line for Gravette and picked up 18 points in the game. Joseph Beem wasn't far behind, with 15.

Garrett Jech led the scoring effort for Gentry, with 19 points in the Highway 59 contest, including four 3-pointers. Jacob Brown battled under the basket to pick up 10 points (four 2-pointers and two free throws).
